Following on from the early success of Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand has been building a strong reputation with other styles; Chardonnay, Cabernet/Merlot blends, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Syrah to name a few. New Zealand wine is largely produced in ten major wine growing regions. They are, from north to south Northland, Auckland, Waikato/Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, Wellington, Nelson, Marlborough, Canterbury/Waipara and Central Otago. Wines of New Zealand have distinctive acidity and abundant fruit. They are also capable of demonstrating a great deal of complexity.
